2006 Washington Polynesian All State and Conferece Football Selections

Congratulations are due to the many Samoans and Tongans as well as some Hawaiians and even a Chamorro who have been selected to various Washington newspaper All Star teams as well as All Conference selections by their respective leagues. The bulk of the players are from the Seattle/Tacoma area. If you know of any others please email aigafoundation@aol.com

Lamont Afuvai 5'11, 210, Sr (Franklin Pierce HS, Tacoma): Selected to Tacoma Tribune's All Area Team as a All-purpose back. A first-team, all-SPSL selection as a running back and a linebacker, as well as SPSL Defensive Lineman of the year, Afuvai was a playmaker for the Cardinals on their state playoff run. He finished with 860 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He also scored another three touchdowns as a receiver.

Sonny Aumoeualogo 5'10, 205, Sr (Fife HS, Tacoma): Selected to Tacoma Tribune's All Area Team at Running back. The shifty runner finished with a school-record 1,556 yards and 25 touchdowns, helping Fife to its first 10-0 record since 1965. He was an all-Nisqually League 2A first-team selection at both running back and linebacker and was conference MVP. A little more about Sonny Aumoeualogo: Said his most memorable moment this season was winning the Nisqually League 2A title, the school’s first since 1988.

Wildcats from Snoqualmie finished 10-2, best record in school history, and reached 3A state quarterfinals. Had an 85 percent blocking rate this season and made 31 tackles on defense with two sacks, two forced fumbles and three tackles for loss. Season highlight: “Playing the best team in the state (Bellevue, in a 3A state preliminary round playoff game), even though they beat us.” College options: The University of Washington, Oregon State, Western Washington or California.

Roman Pula 5'10, 210, Sr (Lincoln HS, Tacoma): Recently selected 1st Team All State by the Seattle Times at Running Back. Selected to Tacoma Tribune's All Area Team at Running back.
