PSU signs California JC lineman
Penn State's fourth offensive line addition to its 2007 recruiting class might be its most meaningful one -- at least in the short term.
Ako Poti, a 6-5, 300-pound offensive lineman from City College of San Francisco, has verbally committed to PSU. Poti is believed to be the Nittany Lions' first junior college recruit in two decades, dating back to the days of wideout Mike Alexander in the mid-1980s.
Poti, who has two years of eligibility left, has the athleticism to play either tackle or guard and is expected to enroll at PSU in January. If Poti enrolls in January, he will be eligible to participate in PSU's spring practices. Poti is the Lions' 15th verbal. He was also considering Brigham Young, Kansas State, Kentucky and Texas A&M.
