Polynesian All Conference Selections

A group of Polynesians were selected All Conference in their respective conference (ACC, Big East, Big 12, Conference USA) throughout the US. A list of the Samoans, Tongans, and Hawaiians selected in the WAC and MWC will follow.

Oklahoma's CJ Ah You was selected first team All Big 12 at defensive end. Ah You a transfer from Snow College via BYU was the Big 12 Newcomer of the year in 2005 and an honorble mention all conference selection last season. Ah You finished the regular season with 39 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 3 pass breakups and 7 quarterback hurries. Oklahoma and Ah You will face Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on January 1st that includes Samoans Mike Altieri, Ia Falo, Aiona Key; Tongans Michael Lose and Sione Tavake; and Hawaiian Kapono Rawlins-Crivello. In addition, Viliami Tuivai is a linebacker coach for the team.

Georgia Tech defensive tackle Joe Anoa'i was selected first team All ACC for the first time in his four year's at Tech. Anoa'i, the son of former "Wild Samoan" wrestler Sika, anchors a Tech defense that ranks 11th in the nation against the run. He has 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Georgia Tech faces West Vriginia on January 1st in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida.

Robert Latu of Tulsa was selected first team All Conference USA at Defensive End. Latu is a 2 year starter and had 34 tackles from his defensive end position. He had a team-high of 8.5 stops for -38 yards and also led the team in sacks with six for -34 yards. He also had three pass break-ups. Latu and his Tulsa team will the second largest Polynesian team in Divsion I-A, Utah, in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, Latu's hometown.

Rutgers guard Cameron Stephenson was selected second team All Big East for the first time. Stephenson is a transfer from LA Harbor College via Hawthorne High School.

Junior College transfer Misi Tupe of Texas A&M was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Dixie State which this year changed from being a junior college to a Division II football school. Tupe was also selected honorable mention all conference. Tupe started eight games at linebacker for the Aggiesm posting 54 tackles including three for a loss of 23 yards and also recorded a sack, broke up two passes and recovered two fumbles. A&M will face Cal in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego on December 28th.

Colorado linebacker Jordon Dizon was selected All Big 12 honorable mention for the second year in a row. The starting WILL linebacker finished the season with 137 tackles (80 solo), 7 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks.
