The UA football team got a jump-start on the 2008 season Wednesday when Las Vegas tailback Keola Antolin verbally committed.
Antolin, a 5-foot-7-inch, 175-pounder from Bishop Gorman High School, chose Arizona over Iowa, Hawaii and Oregon State. He called UA coach Mike Stoops and assistant Darrell Wyatt on Wednesday with the news. He is expected to sign a national letter of intent in February.
"I talked to my parents over the last two weeks and decided to do it," he said. "(Stoops) was very excited. He said, 'You're going to have fun here.'"
Antolin became a hot prospect after putting up 918 rushing yards and 518 receiving yards during his junior year at Gorman. He scored 17 touchdowns.
Antolin's versatility could make him a good fit in the new Air Zona passing offense, which requires running backs to catch passes out of the backfield.
"They said I'd fit in perfect," he said.
Antolin is the fourth recruit to commit to the UA's fast-improving Class of 2008.
