Deja vu! Beavs offer JUCO DE |
Oregon State appears to be back on the JUCO recruiting trail as another fine looking prospect is sporting an offer from the Beavers. The talented defensive end, Tevita Finau, was once an Oregon State commit back in 2004 when he was a lightly recruited tight end.
Phoenix defensive end Tevita Finau was a tight end from Hawaii back in 2004 and took two years away from football to play rugby in Hawaii before being convinced by one of his friends that football may be his calling. He says he has a ton of offers and more to come.
"I have offers from Arizona, Arizona State, USC, Florida, Cal, Nebraska, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oregon State, West Virginia and Nevada," Finau said. "Most of them came in last week. The Arizona schools came in about two weeks ago."
Finau now stands at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds and still runs the 40-yard dash around 4.75 seconds. He says he is meeting with two more schools today.
"I am meeting with Ole Miss and UCLA today," Finau said.
Finau graduated from Kahuku High School (HI) in 2004 and signed with Oregon State before playing rugby. He also had an offer from Boise State at the time when he checked in at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.
"I signed with Oregon State and I was expecting to go on a mission," Finau said. "I ended up not going at all and I played rugby in Maui for two years. My cousin Aki (Vakalahi) was coming back to school and he talked me into coming out."
Finau greyshirted at Phoenix in 2006 and is track to graduate next May with four years left to play three years of football at a school of his choice. He says he has no favorites to this point and that the Beavs are right in the mix.
"As of right now it is all up for grabs," Finau said. "Oregon State came down the other day and I talked with them. Oregon State is still up there."
