BYU basketball player Jordan Cameron to transfer to USC

by Brett Pyne, BYU Athletic Communications

PROVO, Utah (June 13, 2007) -- BYU coach Dave Rose today announced that redshirt freshman Jordan Cameron has decided to transfer to USC to play football.

"Jordan has informed me that he has decided to play football and will enroll at USC this fall," Rose said. "We appreciate Jordan's contributions as a member of our championship team this past season. He is a great teammate and talented athlete. We wish him the very best as he makes this transition from basketball to football."

A native of Newbury Park, Calif., Cameron sat out his only season in Provo as a redshirt member of BYU's 25-9 team that won the outright Mountain West Conference title and earned the program's first national top-25 ranking since 1993. A 6-foot-5 swingman, Cameron played basketball, football and volleyball at Newbury Park High School, where he was the Marmonte League and Ventura County Player of the Year in basketball and an all-league standout in football.

Jordan is part Samoan on his mother's side and his older sister Brynn Cameron plays basketball at USC.
