The Miami Dolphins have signed former Utah State Aggie Brian Soi to a free agent contract. Soi is the fifth Samoan on the Dolphins roster. The others being Tala Esera, Reagan Mauia, Samson Satele, and Paul Soliai, all of whom are rookies. Defensive tackle Steve Fifita is the lone Tongan on the team.
The 6-2, 320-pound Soi signed with Brigham Young in 2003, but transferred to Utah State in 2004 because of academic problems. Soi played one season for the Aggies in 2005, and posted 31 tackles, including 4 1/2 sacks. Academic deficiencies ended his college career last season.
