Franklin High (Stockton): Offensive Line leads in victory

ELK GROVE - The first two minutes of the game went horribly for Franklin High on Friday night. The Yellowjackets owned the next 46.

Elk Grove opened the game with a picture-perfect six-play, 65-yard drive to grab a quick lead. Franklin made all the big plays after that, pounding the Thundering Herd into submission and notching a 24-7 victory at Elk Grove/Laguna Creek Stadium.

The Yellowjackets (2-1) played inspired ball after learning earlier in the day that the Sac-Joaquin Section board of managers ruled to move its investigation of the football program forward.

The win came because of a five-headed rushing attack that accumulated 298 yards behind Franklin's big offensive line.

"We just overwhelmed them," coach Tom Verner said.

Juan Alvarado, Bruce Seumanutafa, Joel Ervin, Vince Maene and Tim Tuiasosopo weigh a combined 1,439 pounds and used that size to push the Thundering Herd (2-1) off the line on virtually every play.
