Redlands East Valley: Quentin Toailoa

The fastest rising prospects in Southern California is defensive tackle Quentin Toailoa (6-5, 275, 5.2) from Redlands (Calif.) East Valley since his first offer from Arizona several have followed.

"Quentin has over 10 offers right now," East Valley coach Kurt Bruich said. "I can't remember all of them, but besides Arizona, the offers I remember are from Oregon State, Nebraska, San Diego State and Nevada.

Cal is also very interested and would offer but they are waiting on transcripts and test scores.

"No one is running at Quentin and he's going against double teams," Bruich said. "So his presence is freeing up our linebacker. The guy who plays behind him at linebacker had 11 tackles against Colton.

"Quentin has intangibles that will be valuable on the college level. He's a great leader, he sells the team on what we are doing and they gladly follow.

"We call Quentin the mayor of our team. He is fair to everyone on the team and treats everyone with the same respect whether to the smallest man to the largest.

"Quentin associates well with everyone involved on the team, not just the big dogs and he keeps all of our team involved.

"Quentin had a great off-season," Bruich said. "He put on 25 pounds and he still looks the same. He's still the dominant player he was last year, but a lot bigger and stronger.

As a junior, Toailoa earned all-league distinction after accounting for 70 tackles and three sacks.

In the weight room, Toailoa currently benches 315, dead lifts 525, power cleans 300, runs the shuttle in 4.77, recorded a 25.6 vertical and has recorded a 7-3 broad jump.

The scouting report on Toailoa is he has outstanding size and strength. He plays low to the ground and gets great push that helps him control offensive linemen with his hands. It helps that he is very quick for his size.
