Sula works overtime as Carson edges San Pedro

Running back Jack Sula picked up the bad snap on the extra-point attempt and looked for any kind of opening.

Instead, Sula felt himself being pulled down by San Pedro defenders, and he knew he had to make something happen.

He saw A.J. Ropati in the end zone and lofted it toward the wide-open receiver for an improbable catch, giving Carson a thrilling 18-16 overtime victory Friday over visiting San Pedro.

"I'm not a quarterback -- I know it looked ugly," said Sula, who rushed for a touchdown, threw for a touchdown and caught a touchdown. "I just threw it up there and let (Ropati) make a play.

"We had not beaten San Pedro since 2003. They practically owned us. We had to step up and take back our pride."
