Sopoaga replaces nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin, who is out with a calf injury.
Other former UH players also are nursing injuries.
Wide receiver Ashley Lelie, who missed last Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with a quad injury, remained out of practice yesterday.
Linebacker Jeff Ulbrich, who injured his ankle last week against St. Louis, did not practice yesterday.
