Tui Crichton to miss senior season

When he first threw his shoulder out, an injury that occurred this past basketball season, Timpview's Tui Crichton was almost positive that he would heal in time for his senior year of football.

But things haven't gone so well for Crichton since then. A BYU commitment and a four-star recruit, Crichton recently found out that the torn labrum he suffered six month ago will force him to miss his entire senior season for a team that figures to be a heavy favorite to repeat as Class 4A state champions.

"When I first thought about it, I was really mad, sad and depressed at the same time," Crichton said when reached by phone. "This was my senior season, I was supposed to go out with a bang. All of those hopes went away with my surgery."

One of the best tackles in Utah, and a returning first-team All-State selection, Crichton committed to the Cougars during his junior year. He said that he's been in constant contact with BYU coaches and he confirmed that his scholarship offer still stands. He plans to formally sign during the fall period.
