Senior quarterback Levi Levasa accounts for four touchdowns in the win

NEWBERG – The Tualatin High School football team bounced back from its first league loss of the season in a big, quick-striking way.

The Timberwolves, coming off a 17-7 loss to Canby, jumped out to a 35-6 halftime lead on their way to scoring a 49-6 win over Newberg in a Pacific Conference game played Friday at Newberg High School.

With the victory, Tualatin improved to 3-1 in league play while also evening its season mark to 4-4. Newberg fell to 1-3 in Pacific Conference games and to 3-5 on the season.

“This was an important game for us,” Tualatin coach Craig Hastin said. “We wanted to make sure to get a playoff spot. With this win we’ll finish in a minimum of third place.”

Senior quarterback Levi Levasa had a big night for Tualatin in the win. He completed 13 of 16 pass attempts for 206 yards and three touchdowns. Levasa also had a 1-yard touchdown run and he intercepted a pass on defense in the victory.

“Levi threw the ball real well,” Hastin said.
