HEMET - The right leg of Hector Gomez produced the winning points Friday, but it was the sturdy legs of David Tavita that carried Menifee Paloma Valley into a share of the Sunbelt League lead.

Tavita's workhorse effort produced 212 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats held off Hemet, 24-21 in overtime. Paloma Valley (6-3, 3-1 in league) moved into a first-place tie thanks to Hemet West Valley's loss to Lake Elsinore Lakeside.

Paloma Valley leaned heavily on Tavita and a bruising offensive line, particularly in the second half. Tavita had 20 carries for 112 yards after halftime.
