Faletoese Named To Walter Camp All-America Team

UC Davis defensive tackle John Faletoese, named last month as the Great West Conference Defensive Player of the Year, was named on Friday to the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2008 Football Championship Subdivision All-America team, it was announced by the organization.
Faletoese, a senior from Carmichael, joined Cal Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden as GWC players on the 26-player team. Also a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award - given to the top defensive player in the FCS - Faletoese finished the season with 7.5 tackles for losses, including 5.5 sacks. He also had 32 total tackles, including 21 solo, despite getting double-teamed much of the season. Addtionally, he blocked four kicks this season, giving him nine for his career.

The 6-foot-3, 292-pound Faletoese was named as a preseason All-America by a pair of organizations and was the pick of the league's head coaches as its preseason Defensive Player of the Year. His All-GWC first-team honor last month was the third of his outstanding career.
