Louisiana ranks first in in NFL players per capita

Louisiana ranks first in the country in NFL players per capita, USA Football announced today. USA Football’s annual study is on the high schools and states with the most NFL players.

Louisiana was first in players per capita, with one National Football League player for every 55,862 people in the state. Louisiana also came in tied for fifth with most players in the NFL, with 80.

USA Football is the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels and the official youth development partner of the NFL.

The territory of American Samoa has 6 graduates from it's high schools.

  • Samoana: Domata Peko (Cincinnati Bengals), Isa'ako Sopoaga (San Francisco 49ers), Matt Toeaina (Chicago Bears)
  • Tafuna: Jonathan Fanene (Cincinnati Bengals), Junior Siavi'i (Dallas Cowboys)
Leone High's Melila Purcell was placed on season ending injured reserve by the Cleveland Browns.
