Pac-10 Football Awards and All-Conference Announced

Running back Toby Gerhart of Stanford has been selected Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, tackle Brian Price of UCLA the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and Chip Kelly of Oregon the Pac-10 Coach of the Year. In addition, running back LaMichael James of Oregon and linebacker Vontaze Burfict of Arizona State have been named Pac-10 Offensive and Defensive Freshmen of the Year. The award winners are selected by the Pac-10 head football coaches.

First Team
DL Tyson Alualu (St Louis HS, Honolulu, HI) Sr, California
a second team selection in 2008, led team in and ranked among Pac-10 leaders (7.5 sacks) and tackles for loss (10.0) and led all Pac-10 defensive lineman with 60 tackles.

KOR Brian Owusu (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village, CA) So, Stanford
returned three kickoffs for touchdowns for the season and leads the conference with 32.5 yards per kickoff return. He returned a kickoff of at least 40 yards against eight of 12 opponents this season.

DL Stephen Paea (Timpview HS, Los Altos, CA) Jr, Oregon State

ST Suaesi Tuimaunei (Kahuku HS, La'ie, HI) Jr, Oregon State

Second Team
QB Jeremiah Masoli (St Louis HS, Daly City, CA) Jr, Oregon
leads the Pacific-10 Conference (t14th nationally) in points responsible for (14.73 avg.), in addition to ranking second in the conference (36th nationally) in total offense (247.7 avg.) and third in passing efficiency. He has completed 168 of 285 passes for 2,066 yards and 15 touchdowns, while Oregon’s second-leading rusher ran for 659 yards and 12 more scores. He moved into ninth on the school’s single-season (2,725) and career (5,187) total offensive yards lists.

OL Shawn Lauvao (Farrington HS, Honolulu,HI) Sr, Arizona State

DL Daniel Te'o-Nesheim (HPA, Waikoloa, HI) Sr, Washington
led the UW with 11 quarterback sacks on his way to setting a school record for sacks in a career (30). He also had 14 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles. Te'o-Nesheim finished his career having started all 49 games.
