D-lineman Tevaseu added to West Team at all-star event in Orlando

LAS VEGAS - Former UNLV defensive tackle Martin Tevaseu (Boonville, Calif.) has accepted an invitation to play in the 85th Annual East-West Shrine Game scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23 at Orlando's Florida Citrus Bowl.

The game, which is being played in the Sunshine State for the first time ever, will kick off at 12 p.m. PT and be nationally televised by ESPN2.

Tevaseu is the second Rebel defender to join the East-West roster, as linebacker Jason Beauchamp accepted his invitation last month to play for the West, which will be coached by former NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer. Tevaseu and Beauchamp are the first two Rebels to appear in the East-West since linebacker Adam Seward and wide receiver Earvin Johnson in 2004.

Tevaseu was named the 2009 UNLV Defensive MVP as the big tackle started every game and clogged the middle of the line. The former Arizona State signee and Santa Rosa JC transfer finished with 28 total tackles and a QB sack. He also was voted by his teammates to receive the Defensive Captain Award.
