LB Eric Tuipulotu, Serra, Sr.
The Padres had a myriad of talent in 2009 that helped take them to the second round in the CCS Open Division playoffs. Tuipulotu was a very bright spot in the Serra defense. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound senior captain used speed, strength and football IQ to stop opposing offenses. Tuipoloto tallied 159 total tackles in 2009, averaging over 13 per game.

DB Joe Pauli, Independence, Jr.
Pauli was a force on both sides of the ball for the 76ers in 2009. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound junior safety earned player of the week honors in their playoff matchup with San Benito. Pauli's 67 yards rushing, three sacks and 23 tackles wasn't enough to get by the Haybalers. His 162 total tackles, five sacks and one interception were good enough, however, to earn him a spot on the first team.
