49ers Sign Local Product, LB LaBoy

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed LB Travis LaBoy to a one-year deal.

LaBoy (6-3, 250), who was a second-round selection (42nd overall) by the Tennessee Titans in the 2004 NFL Draft, has appeared in 67 games (32 starts) in his five-year career. He has recorded 136 tackles, 23.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one interception. LaBoy had his best season in 2005, when he registered career highs in both tackles (41) and sacks (6.5). In 2007, he notched a career-high 4 forced fumbles.

LaBoy played four seasons with Tennessee before signing with the Arizona Cardinals in March 2008. He was released in March 2009 and missed the entire season recovering from a foot injury.
LaBoy, a 28-year old native of Honolulu, HI, played at Marin Catholic HS in Kentfield, CA, before attending Utah State. Following his freshman year with the Aggies, LaBoy transferred to Hawaii where he earned WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was the recipient of the team’s Alex Waterhouse Most Valuable Player Award.
