Former Anderson Valley and Santa Rosa Junior College star Martin Tevaseu has signed a free-agent contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Tevaseu, a 6-foot-1, 328-pound nose guard, was UNLV’s Defensive MVP and team captain as a senior this past season. The run-clogging Tevaseu had 28 tackles and one sack for the Rebels.
Tevaseu played in the East-West Shrine Classic in Orlando, Fla., in January, but was not selected in the NFL draft. He attended a three-day tryout with the Browns in early May before signing with the team.
Tevaseu signed with Arizona State out of high school but suffered a serious knee injury on his third day of practice. He left ASU and played at SRJC in 2007, when he weighed about 420 pounds.
He lost nearly 100 pounds after the 2007 season and earned a scholarship from UNLV.
