Mana Silva were selected to the Academic all-District VIII first team, as selected by the College of Sports Information Directors Association. Both are now eligible for Academic All-America honors which will be announced later this season.
Pilares, a kinesiology and recreation science major, currently ranks seventh nationally in receiving yards per game (105.0) and 11
th in receptions per game (7.11). He also shares the team-lead with running back
Alex Green with 12 touchdowns.
The senior from Wahiawa, O'ahu is having a breakout year with four 100-yard receiving games and four multiple touchdown games. Earlier this season, he broke the school’s single-game record with 18 catches for a career-high 217 yards in a win over Louisiana Tech. He has recorded a touchdown in seven of nine games this season.
Silva, a senior from Hilo, Hawai‘i, leads the team with five interceptions this season and also ranks second with 56 tackles. Over his career, he has 11 interceptions, just two shy of the school record held by Keone Jardine and Kelvin Millhouse.
In order to be eligible for the all-district, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
