Oregon State junior cornerback Jordan Poyer has been selected to the Pac-12 Conference Second Team, it was announced Monday by league commissioner Larry Scott. Five other Beavers joined Poyer on the all-conference team as honorable mention selections.
Poyer, an honorable mention selection as a kick returner in 2010,
earned second team honors as a cornerback as he leads the Pac-12 with 16
passes defended (four interceptions and 12 break ups) and is tied for
ninth in the country. A first year starter, Poyer finished the season
with 57 tackles.
Joining Poyer on the all-conference team are Scott Crichton, Johnny Hekker, Grant Johnson, Lance Mitchell and Markus Wheaton.
Crichton, a freshman defensive end, is second in the Pac-12 with 14.5
tackles-for-loss and is tied for sixth in the conference with six
quarterback sacks and set the OSU record for forced fumbles in a season
with six, tying for fourth in the country. Crichton started all 12 games
for the Beavers registering 74 tackles, good for fourth on the team.
