Important Points for College Football Prospects and Families
- Go online and fill out questionnaires for all schools. Unless you have a scholarship offer standing do not cross any college of your list. You never know where your destiny as an athlete may take you.
- Take the SAT and ACT early--like this Spring. Do not wait until the last minute. Schools need scores early so they can access an athlete academically as well as on the field. Most SATs in the Fall are on Saturday in the heart of the football season when games are Friday night or on Saturdays. You need to be focused and prepared for the test and the rigors of a football season can distract from the studying process.
- Make sure you have a backup plan. Take the athletics out of the equation and make applications to schools that you would like to attend if you were not an athlete. Know the requirements, know the application deadlines, and get admitted.
