Quentin Toailoa offered by Arizona

The Inland Empire area of Southern California is fast becoming a football talent gold mine. Once again the area eastward from Los Angeles will attract visitors from some of the nation's best colleges.

Defensive tackle Quentin Toailoa (6-5, 275, 5.2) from Redlands (Calif.) East Valley will be one of those attractions.

As a matter of fact the University of Arizona is ahead of the recruiting curve for Toailoa and is the first school to pony up an offer.

The word is Cal is also close to offering and Nebraska has a high interest in Toailoa.

Boise State and Colorado are also showing interest.

As a junior, Toailoa earned all-league distinction after accounting for 70 tackles and three sacks.

In the weight room, Toailoa currently benches 315, dead lifts 525, power cleans 300, runs the shuttle in 4.77, recorded a 25.6 vertical and has recorded a 7-3 broad jump.

"Quentin has outstanding size and strength," East Valley coach Kurt Bruich said. "He plays low to the ground and gets great push that helps him control offensive linemen with his hands. He is very quick for his size.

"Quentin is a great character kid," Bruich said. "The one thing that separates Quentin from others is he's full go from the snap to the whistle. We play Quentin on the nose and if he slides over to a gap he takes that part of the game away from opposition.

"We expect a big senior season out of Quentin," Bruich said. "He's only been here since last summer and he's gained 25 pounds and he doesn't look any different than he did when he arrived on campus.

"Now with one season and an off-season under his belt, he's going to be much better as a senior."
