Polynesians selected to preseason Big Sky Conference football team

The Big Sky Conference named their preseason all-conference team, which includes Montana State's Epikopo King, Portland State's Brennan Carvalho, Sacramento State's Dallas Mauga and Cyrus Mulitalo, and Weber State's Bryant Eteuati.

BRENNAN CARVALHO: All-American offensive lineman was chosen to the team for the second year in a row. Carvalho, a two-time All-Big Sky Conference choice, and consensus 2006 All-American, has earned honors as a left guard. The 6-1, 310-pound native of Kapa’a, Hawai’i is making a move to center for his senior season.

BRYANT ETEUATI: (5-7, 180 Jr.) was named the Big Sky’s TOP RETURN SPECIALIST (First Team) despite missing the last three games of the season with an injury. He had 19 kickoff returns for an average of 27.9 yards per return and had a 100-yarder for a touchdown at home vs. league champion Montana . He had 26 punt returns for an average of 12.1 per return as well.

EPIKOPO KING: Enters the fall as a projected starter, either at extra safety or at one of the linebacker spots. (2006) Earned second team All-Big Sky honors last fall… registered 63 tackles, tied for fifth on the team, with 6.5 for a loss and three sacks… broke up one pass… had 11 tackles, 1.5 for a loss, and a half-sack against NAU… blocked a kick in the Grizzly game… registered 2.5 sacks against Weber State.

DALLAS MAUGA: (Pictured above #92) was a second team all-Big Sky selection following the 2006 season. During his first year with the Hornets, the San Diego native recorded 40 tackles, including 9.0 for loss. He started 10 games for Sacramento State and had his best showing against Montana State where he had nine tackles with 4.5 tackles-for-loss.

CYRUS MULITALO: (Pictured above #42) was the Big Sky’s leading tackler in 2006. The middle linebacker recorded 120 stops during the year while starting all 11 games. That performance led him to second team all-league honors after the season. Mulitalo was also named all-West Region and honorable mention All-America by Football Gazette. The San Lorenzo, Calif., native also led the team with 11.5 tackles-for-loss and had at least six tackles in all 11 games. His biggest showing came against Northern Colorado where he had 21 total tackles to rank second in school history. He also had a five-game stretch during the year where he had 10-plus tackles in each game.
