The San Diego State football team's youth movement in the trenches has taken on more urgency as a key offensive lineman has been lost to academics.
Senior Peter Manuma, who was in the running for the starting spots at left guard and center, is academically ineligible and has left the school, head coach Chuck Long said.
The loss adds to the likelihood that true freshmen will be pressed for playing time at a position already thin because of the shortcomings of previous recruiting classes and last month's departure of guard Whitley Fehoko, who intends to transfer.
