Poly plays the waiting game

The Riverside Poly coaching staff hoped for some good news this week regarding injured running back Viliami Vaipulu, whose return from a torn ligament in his knee is imminent. A few weeks ago, Poly assistant coach Bob Nordbeck said Vaipulu might be ready for Poly's Ivy League opener Saturday against Ramona. Now, it seems Vaipulu will have to wait a few more weeks to get his first action of the season.
"We've got to get his strength up to 90 percent," said Nordbeck, whose son, Poly quarterback Ryan Nordbeck, tore an anterior cruciate ligament early this season. "He's still a week or two away."
