Katoa is the nation's 4th ranked inside linebacker.
"I've been getting texts and letters from Alabama and I'm going to go there for a visit in a few weeks. I'm very interested in Alabama because of the tradition and they have a new staff that is going to compete for a national championship every year," Katoa said. "Coach Saban is a coach who wins wherever he goes and I wouldn't expect him to do any different at Alabama. A coach like that is who I would like to play for. I haven't gotten to know the coaches very well yet but I'm going to hopefully soon.

"One thing that helps Alabama is that I like the SEC style of play and it's in warm weather. Both of those work in their favor."

Katoa is getting set to go on a whirlwind of unofficial visits and that is going to go a long way towards determining his final choice.

"In a couple of weeks I'm going to take a bunch of unofficial visits and that is going to hopefully help me separate the schools from each other. I'll be going to some of the Texas schools and then to Florida and Miami and that is when I will visit Alabama," Nelson said. "Right now there are probably seven to ten schools that I am still looking at the most. Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Miami, USC, Wisconsin, (Texas) A&M, LSU and Alabama are the ones I like the most. They are all good programs."

Originally from Texas, Katoa indicated that he was open to going anywhere in the country to play football.

"I just moved to Utah recently and I'm originally from Texas so moving around won't be a problem for me. I'm willing to go anywhere as long as I know it's the place for me," he said. "The most important thing for me is to feel comfortable that I made the right decision and that I go to a school that gives me a chance to be more than just a football player. I'd like to get a good education and enjoy college as a student."

As a junior, Katoa recorded 109 tackles, 13 sacks and one interception.
