#2 Serra 41, Buchanan-Clovis 7: Tiuke Tuipulotu and Matt Sevelo scored two touchdowns each and the visiting Padres forced six turnovers in an impressive opening night win in Clovis.
Tuipulotu (10 rushes, 93 yards) scored on runs of 6 and 28 yards. Sevelo scored on a 19-yard run and caught a 37-yard pass from quarterback Cody Jackson as the Padres prepared for next week's showdown at top-ranked De La Salle.
Serra recovered five fumbles, including one by William West, who returned it 1 yard for a touchdown to close the scoring with 6:24 remaining in the game. J.P. Hurrell added a 30-yard touchdown run on his only carry of the game for the Padres, ranked 13th in the state by CalHiSports.
