CYRUS MULITALO NAMED BIG SKY CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

10/1/2007 OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State linebacker Cyrus Mulitalo was named the Big Sky Conference co-Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today. The junior shared the award with Montana State safety Kevin Retoriano.

Mulitalo, a 6-1, 245-pound junior from San Leandro, Calif., recorded a game-high nine tackles and returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown in Sacramento State’s 38-9 win over Northern Arizona. He also had three solo tackles, and a sack. With 14 seconds to play in the first half, Mulitalo gathered a tipped ball out of the air and took it to the end zone to give the Hornets a 17-3 lead. Mulitalo was the catalyst for the defense which limited NAU to nine first downs and 187 yards of total offense. This is his third Player of the Week honor in his career.

Mulitalo now has a team-best 37 tackles on the year and also leads the Hornets with 6.0 tackles-for-loss. His touchdown against Northern Arizona was the second of his collegiate career as he rushed for a score last season against Portland State.
