The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker made 76 tackles, including 13 for losses. The third-year starter earned two sacks and forced a fumble.
“The most impressive thing I’ve seen Va’a do was run down the Annapolis quarterback,” Bruins coach Jeff Herrick said. “I couldn’t believe what I saw. They ran a sweep, and Va’a ran him down and got him on the line of scrimmage.”
