Tutogi Signs Letter Of Intent To Play For UW

SEATTLE - The Washington football team has received a National Letter of Intent from junior college linebacker Thomas Tutogi, Husky coach Steve Sarkisian announced today. Tutogi played at Southwestern Junior College in Chula Vista, Calif., this past season. He is expected to enroll at the UW in January, 2011.
Tutogi, whose older brother Taimi plays at Arizona, played just one season at Southwestern and will be a true sophomore at the UW next year. He earned first-team all-league honors as a freshman at Southwestern.
"Thomas is a heck of a football player," Sarkisian said. "He's a great addition to our football team and we expect him to make an immediate impact"
Tutogi finished the 2010 season with 120 total tackles, good for third in the Southern California Football Association. He was also fourth in the league with 17.5 tackles for loss. Tutogi was once named his conference's all-purpose player of the week after a game in which he scored two touchdowns while also notching 18 tackles and a forced fumble.
Prior to going to Southwestern, Tutogi was a fullback and linebacker at Chula Vista High School. As a senior, he posted 140 tackles and scored 12 touchdowns. In 2009, his final season, he helped lead the Spartans to a 4-1 league record and a trip to the playoffs. He earned first-team All-Mesa League and second-team All-San Diego Section.
