2008 AIGA Foundation All Star Football Team: Honorable Mention Offense

QUARTERBACKS

Fa’afiaula Ena 5’11, 200, Jr (Hermiston, Oregon)
Honorable Mention All-State (5A), Intermountain Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Passed for 2196 yards and 24 TDs and ran for 616 yards and 17 TDs.

Manuia Fruean 6’2, 210, Jr (West Campus-Sacramento, CA)
Capital Valley League Underclassman Player of the Year. Passed for 819 yards and 9 TDs, ran for 405 yards and 8 TDs. 35 tackles at linebacker.

Jeremy Higgins 6’0, 175, Jr (St Louis-Honolulu, HI)
Second Team All-State (Honolulu Advertiser). First Team All-ILH. Passed for 2717 yards, completing 194 passes on 283 attempts for 27 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Younger brother of Weber State quarterback Cameron Higgins.

Teu Kautai Jr (Oakridge-Arlington, TX)
Passed for 919 yards and 10 TDs, ran for 396 yards and 8 TDs as a junior. Primary target is fellow Trinity (Euless, TX) transfer Ross Apo.

Alex Kuresa So (Mountain Crest-Hyrum, UT)
First Team All State (4A-SL Tribune), Second Team All State (Deseret News), Led team to 4A State Semifinals passing for 344 yards and 4 TDs in loss to eventual state champion Timpview. Younger brother of former BYU lineman Jake Kuresa.

Lehi Tonga 5’11, 185, Sr (Bell-Hurst, TX)
First Team All District (5-5A). Passed for 1545 yards and 13 TDs, ran for 765 yards and 11 TDs

First Team All-State (DII), First Team All OIA-White.


Will Burbridge 6’2, 225, Jr (Gulf-New Port Richey, FL)

Pasco Tribune All County First Team, Second Team All-North Suncoast. Ran for 463 yards (6.01 average) for 6 TDs, 20 receptions for 307 yards and 3 TDs as a junior.


Ryan Ho 5’7, 155, Jr (Kamehameha Schools-Honolulu, HI)

Second Team All-State (Star Bulletin), First Team All-ILH. Rushed for 1076 yards on 130 attempts and 11 TDs.


Danny Kekoanui 5’10, 190, Sr (Waianae, HI)

Second Team All-State (Honolulu Advertiser and Star Bulletin). Rushed for 871 yards and 10 TDs. Hawai’i/Polynesia vs. Mainland All Star Game participant.


St John Lessary III 6’0, 170, Sr (Kahuku, HI)

Third Team All-State (Star Bulletin), First Team All OIA-East. Will walk on at Hawai'i as a punter.


Peni Maka’afi 5’11, 215, Sr (Northridge-Layton, UT)

Second Team Region 2. Will attend BYU


Troy Matautia (Waipahu, HI) 5’6, 200, Sr

First Team All-State selection by Honolulu Advertiser and Star Bulletin.1227 yards, 7.4 yards per attempt, 15 touchdowns. All-purpose yardage: 1,915 yards. Hawai’i/Polynesia vs. Mainland All Star Game participant.


Joshua Quezada (La Habra, CA) 6'0, 190, Jr

First Team All-Orange County (OC Register).First Team All-CIF Southwest Division. Rushed for 1613 yards and 15 TDs as a junior, averaging 115.2 yards per game.


Jojo Pili 5’11, 250, Sr (Timpanogos-Orem, UT)

First Team All-Valley (Provo Daily Herald), First Team All Region 4.


Ryan Salausa 6’2, 190, So (Western Christian-Covina, CA)

Salanoa Galeai 6’1, 225, Sr (Trinity-Euless, TX)

First Team All-District (5-5A). Will play special teams at Lousiana-Monroe and long snapper.


Vailele Peko 5’7, 150, So (Alhambra, CA)

Pasadena Star Honorable Mention.


Afasene Tasi 5’11, 170, Sr (Leone, American Samoa)

ASHAA Offensive Player of the Year, Hawai’i/Polynesia vs. Mainland All Star Game participant.


Sefa Tanoai 6’4, 270, Jr (Pleasant Grove, UT).

Honorable Mention All-Valley (Daily Herald), First Team Region 2.


Tofi Tiedemann 6’1, 185, Sr (Lakewood, CA)

First Team All-Moore League. Had 27 receptions for 544 yards and 4 TDs.


Benjamyn Tupuola 6’0, 170, So (Overfelt-San Jose, CA)

BVAL West Valley Division Sophomore Player of the Year.

Joey Iosefa 6’1, 190, Sr (Faga’itua, American Samoa)

Selected ASHAA All Purpose Player of the Year and MVP. Also played safety for championship team. 2008 Hawai’i/Polynesia vs. Mainland All Star Game participant. Recruited to Hawai’i as an athlete and will play safety.


Vaughn Kapiko 6’0, 200, Sr (Lewis & Clark-Spokane, WA)

First Team All-League WR. Finished the season with 54 receptions for 969 yards. Led GSL league career wise with most receptions and yards. Will play defensive back at Central Washington.


Mosiah Manuma 5’10, 175, Sr (Radford-Honolulu, HI)

First Team All-State AP (DII), played quarterback and defensive back for the Rams.


Derek Muaava 6’1, 200, Jr (Independence-San Jose, CA)

BVAL-Santa Teresa Division Junior Player of the Year. San Jose Mercury News Second Team Utility, Rushed for 1127 yards and 7 TDs on, had 91 tackles and 8 sacks at defensive end. Transferred from Desert Pines (Las Vegas).

Geez' Makani you out done yourself with this one. Wow! I didn't know there were so many, I have yet to know the names of, lol. I probably only heard of half the names on your long list, but its all good. It's impossible to know all the Poly's playing the game. Thanks for the post! I will try to decipher it later, I see a video idea forming with your list here. Need to ponder over it a bit, probably brainstorm some stuff while I'm at church later today, hehe... Anyways, great All Star Football Team!

P.S. I just happened to come across the most intriguing article to say the least. I never in my life seen a 12 year old Football player being recruiting. He is in middle school!! lol. Check it out laters and tell me your opinion, if this is the growing trend, wow!
